SUSTAINABILITY

The fast fashion industry is on the rise but immensely polluting planet Earth at the same time. Apparently it is the second largest pollutant following oil and it is responsible for producing 20% of the waste water worldwide. But wait, there’s more: In 2015, the fashion industry produced ninety two million tons of waste and it would take exactly 12 years to recycle what is produced every 48. This is all very shocking and heartbreaking news that shouldn’t be happening.

Nevertheless, where there’s a will there’s a way. dasFlow is always open to search for new ways in which producing clothing pollutes less and benefits the individual, each way being more positive than the last. Currently, there is a new fashion trend which is a lot more sustainably friendly and it is called PES ECCO fabric. dasFlow is using it because of its reduction of carbon footprint. First off, this kind of fabric is made off of recycled plastic bottles. Secondly, it is CO2 neutral so its emissions are reduced by about 70%. Third, and compared to fast fashion, the fabric’s production requires a WAY smaller amount of petroleum. Last but not least, focusing on PES ECCO means recycling bottles, which leads to avoiding these plastics to be floating in landfills and oceans. With all those details included, PES ECCO has the ability to be recycled endlessly without loss of the quality in the fabric... how fascinating!!
