PET ECCO fabric has several environmental benefits that we bet will surprise you, but that's not all. Recycling plastic bottles has a drastic impact on the ecosystem. Do you want to find out why? Keep reading.

All the fabric in the garments made by dasFlow have recently been transitioned to all recycled plastic from PET ECCO. We are always looking for new ways to improve our products to make our apparel greener. Recycled polyester has many benefits that a traditional polyester does not offer. One of those benefits is the reduction in the need for oil as a raw material. In the production of PET ECCO fiber, CO2 emissions are reduced to 70%, while benefiting more than 50,000 families that recycle waste in Colombia. PET ECCO also diverts plastic from landfills and oceans with the help of those families. Last but not least, PET ECCO can be endlessly recycled without loss of fabric quality.

On top of that, global plastic consumption is increasing exponentially with one million plastic bottles sold per minute. In 2016, 480 billion plastic bottles were sold, and only less than half of those bottles were recycled. Leftover plastic bottles end up in oceans and landfills, causing dangerous effects on the environment. These plastic bottles can take up to 400 years to biodegrade and can break down into tiny plastic particles. These microplastics are killing animals and leaking chemicals into our ecosystem.

As these harmful toxins seep into food chains, they can cause cancer and reproductive disabilities. Animals, especially those that live in water, get stuck in plastic which extremely lowers their chances of survival. To avoid this bad news, we should take action and get used to PET ECCO.
